From: WILLIAM YAW OWUSU, Agomeda
Nene Nagai Kassa V111 was at the weekend outdoored as Mla Hiomeh Matse (Defence Chief) of the Shai Traditional Area at Agomeda.
Nene Kassa, known in private life as Warrant Officer Joseph Kofi Addai, succeeds Nene Nagai Kassa V11 who passed away last year.
The colourful ceremony was attended by chiefs and Queenmothers as well as representatives from all the six divisions within the Shai Traditional Council.
He took the oath of allegiance before Nene Agbotaa Wayebida 11, Asafoatse of Hiomeh.
Accounting his stewardship to the new Chief Adamte Teinor, Okyeame of Shai Lands, urged the people to rally behind Nene Kassa V111 to ensure total development of the area.
Nene Tei-Djahene Korabo 1V, chief of Manya and Senior Asafoatse of Shai, said “now that things have been put right, we should all bury our differences and forge ahead in unity”.
Delivering his acceptance speech, Nene Kassa V111, stressed the need for parents to sacrifice to ensure that the education of their children remained a priority.
“The best form of property we can bequeath our children now is quality education since it is the bedrock of success and development of every nation and community”.
Nene Kassa V111 further said the time has come for them to develop the human resource base of the area to take advantage of the opportunities around.
“As a veteran peacekeeper, l have come to know that development is the panacea for peace and equality life. We the people of Shai have been privileged to have Dodowa which is close to us as our regional capital. This will definitely go with a lot of development to open this part of the country and we the people of Hiomeh must not be left behind in this drive. We need to re-double our efforts to get abreast of current events”.
He also advised the people to patronize the Health Insurance Scheme and also support the effort to ensure proper sanitation in the area.
