Mamponghene promises to honour outstanding citizens
The occupant of the Silver Stool of Ashanti, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, has stressed that the Mampong Traditional Council will continue to give recognition and honour to citizens from the area who will demonstrate the spirit of communalism and a sense of commitment and dedication.
He stated that it would be prudent for affluent citizens in the area to use part of their resources to assist in the development of the community.
Daasebre Osei Bonsu, who is also the paramount chief of the Asante-Mampong Traditional Area, said this at the elevation of the Ntotoyehene (chief organizer) of the traditional area, Nana Owusu-Akyaw, to the status of “Apakanhene” at Asante-Mampong.
Nana Owusu-Akyaw, known in private life as, Mr. Kofi Owusu, popularly called “Owner,” who is a transporter and farmer, has assisted over 1,000 people in the country financially to boost their individual work and has employed more than 500 people some of who are working in his farms, fuel stations and driving his tankers and articulated trucks.
The Mamponghene commended Nana Owusu-Akyaw for his generosity and selflessness and urged other citizens to emulate his example.
Daasebre Osei Bonsu stressed that the contributions made by Nana Owusu-Akyaw during his short reign was splendid adding that, he had given the stool to him and his family.
He, however, called on him to continue to assist people.
Daasebre Osei Bonsu stated that the government’s assistance to every community would largely depend on how the community had helped itself.
He, therefore, urged other Mampong citizens both home and abroad to contribute meaningfully to the development of the area.
Nana Owusu-Akyaw thanked Daasebre Osei Bonsu for the honour done him and his family.
He promised to continue with his generosity.
The function attracted people from all walks of life.
