Dr. Nkrumah’s Centenary:
What should we be celebrating?
Let me go straight to the point.
¨ We should be celebrating a completed network of motorways all over the country.
¨ And then we should be celebrating a situation where no student studies under a mango tree.
¨ And then we should be celebrating every Ghanaian having a decent shelter over his or head.
¨ And then we should be celebrating every household in Ghana having running water.
¨ And then we should be celebrating light in all homes and on all streets in Ghana.
¨ And then we should be celebrating plenty food in the country (from irrigation) for home consumption and for export.
¨ And then we should be celebrating refineries built in the country to add value to our natural resources and exporting finished manufactured products.
¨ And then we should be celebrating clean environment all over the country.
¨ And then we should be celebrating no Ghanaian wanting to leave Ghana for greener pastures any where but that Ghanaians abroad are eager to come home to settle and Ghana becoming first choice destination for foreign professionals to settle.
¨ And then, and then, and then, and t-h-e-n…uh!
¨ Accomplishing these should make Dr. Nkrumah turn in his grave with excitement and smile with contentment. Otherwise, he would moan and out of frustration retort that Ghana, my beloved country, is doomed for ever!!!!
