CUSTOMARY LAND SECRETARIAT TO BE SET UP AT WAASA FIASE
From Francis Donkoh, Takwa

A new customary land secretariat will soon be established at Tarkwa in the Waasa Fiase traditional area, of the Western Region, to expedite action on resolving land litigations.

The Omanhene of Waasa Fiase, Osagyefo Kwamena Enimil VI, disclosed this at this year’s general meeting of the traditional council, at Tarkwa.

He said the secretariat would not only settle land disputes, but also keep proper records of all registered lands to avoid conflicts and litigation associated with land acquisition.

He said Land Administration Project Unit has begun demarcating the area, which shares a boundary with Amenfi on the northern part and asked all chiefs concerned to put themselves in readiness for the exercise.

Osagyefo Enimil announced that a number of projects had been planned for the area and mentioned the construction of a multi-purpose palace to be funded by Gold Fields Ghana (Tarkwa Mine) and a fuel service station.

He said the building plan for the palace project has been submitted to the Gold Fields company while a formal letter has been sent the regional office of the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) for approval for the commencement of the service project.

He urged the chiefs and people in the area to unite and avoid conflicts and divisions, saying that there can be no development in confusion and discord.
