37-year old teacher enstooled Nkroful chief
A 37-year old teacher at the Sili-con International School in Accra has been enstooled as the new chief of Nkroful, the birthplace of the Frist President of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
With the stool name, Nana Kwesi Kutuah, the new chief, aged 37, succeded Nana Bulumiatwum V, who ruled Nkroful from 1989 to 2007, when he passed away.
The new chief was carried in a palanquin and amidst brass band music, went on a procession through the principal streets of Nkroful before arriving at the durbar grounds at the palace where he was cheered by the elated people and their guests.
Nana Kutuah, in his speech, stressed on unity and peace as the tools with which to promote the development and prosperity of Nkroful and its environs.
“I thank my elders for their support, but, I want to emphasis that, we need team work to uplift Nkroful to another level in this historic period.” He said.
The new chief promised to liaise with the assembly to set up a scholarship scheme for the Junior High School products saying that, he was happy that, the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Mr. Armah Kofi Buah, and the assembly had set up the Education Fund.
Nana Kutuah promised to establish an NGO to train the youth in skills to make them employable.
The District Chief Executive for Ellembelle, Mr. Daniel Eshun, hoped that, the new chief would practice probity and accountability in the discharge of his duties as a traditional leader.
Mr. Eshun announced that, the MP Mr. Buah, had donated GH¢1,000 as seed money for an Education fund while the assembly had given out GH¢500 for the same purpose.
The Chief of Basike, Nana Bonya Kofi VI, told “destoolment contractors” that, their days were over.
“We have revoked the licenses of destoolment contractors and they have no night to operate. We have learnt our lessons,” he declared.
